My Greatest Growth Statement
This year, I have grown by becoming a better leader. Leadership is an important skill at DRSS because of all the collaborative projects. Without leadership, group projects would become chaotic and that group wouldn’t be as good as they could’ve been. Becoming a better leader doesn’t necessarily mean taking over the project, it means helping the group become better as a whole.
One example of leadership is my History Info graphic project. During this project, I implemented the use of organization skills. Since our group chose a general topic, each person chose what they wanted to do the most and stuck with it. Also, I implemented deadlines as well so that the information that my group members needed to gather was there on time.
My second example is my Technology Project. In this example, I made a better group by making a “schedule” or in other words a “deadline.” This made the group less chaotic and more efficient. I learned that leadership isn’t dictating or yelling at group members, it is helping each individual so that the group is better as a whole.
During the course of my career, I may come across people that may need some help with organization and motivation. This is where the leadership comes in. Leadership skills will help me to get along and understand the different strengths of my group members.
